Is the Exhibition/Preseason over yet?

Is it me or are there some of you out there that actually like watching the ehibition season.  That's right NFL I said Exhibition.

All it really is, is a way for teams to look at back ups for the future.  I have a novel concept ( ok not really but it is a great idea) .  Lets give each team a minor league team.  The team can play close to the NFL team and the minor league team can be used to bring pro football to some cities that want it but most likely will never gbet it.  for example the 49ers could have a team in San Jose, the Raiders in Sacramento, San Diego in Fresno, Arizona in Vegas, etc.  And we could cut the preaseason to 2 games.  The Minor league would be best if it played atthe same time that way a team could bring up players to fill holes if they needed someone, however if it played in Summerthe Big team staff could get involved.

Well it is just an idea, I know it has been floated before, but what do you all think?

Enough Billy.....this time tomorrow is not enough

I have been an Oakalnd A's fan since back when Catfish Hunter was throwing strikes for Charley Finely.  I was with them through the lean years of Finely destroyingthe team, and finally through the resurgence of the Haas family.  Through all this I have continued to go to games, but this time I am really ticked.  I have supported Billy Beane through his cheap owners as the one thing the A's never seemed to do through all these rebuilding sessions was throu in the towel in the middle of a penant race.  They might allow players to leave via free agency.. and pretend to make a run at keeping them, all the while they and we knew they were really not trying to keep the players and for the most part it has worked.  But never has Beanne destroyed a team inthe middle of a penant race.  That is something the White Sox or other pretenders do, not us.  We are always the pluckly little team that could.  Through all the trades Beanne never made trades that made the team worse in the middle of a pennant race. But now he has.  First we trade Rich Harden, ok I can see that the bet is Rich will implode.  Billy can couch it any way he wants, but that trade was a statement that said I don't think you will last the season.  But why trade Joe Blanton?  Anyone who has watched Blanton this year know his record does not belie his true effort.  Most of the time he has been in a very tight game, and then he gives up a few runs and ends up losing.  Blanton has also been eating innings, but now he is a Philly.  Congrats Phillies for now you may have gotten the piece you need. Of course i am sure right now Billy's phone is ringing and the Mets are on the line.  The conversation is going like this....Hey Billy I need a pitcher.  Billy"  what you offering?"   Met's GM " Well how about these four minor leaguers for Deucherer?"  Billy"  Hmmm how about these 4?"... Mets GM ok... and boom there you have it the Mets have themselves another All Star pitcher to replace Pedro while he is out, and Oakland will get 4 more prospects for a future Stadium that most likely will never get built.  In fact I would go so far as to say even if it is built, The condos are sold and the stadium is sold out by the Southbay crowd Lou Wolfe is trying to woo, the budget won't increase.  Or if it does it won't be enough to keep all the players they are grooming for the future....  The Best thing about tomoorw is its always a Day a way....Right Billy?  Well for this fan, tomorrow is not enough.

Simply Frustrated

Ok today I am simply frustrated....

The Raiders spend millions of dollars on every cast off from here to Timbuktu, but fail to reach a long term agreement with one of the best Corners in the game and number on Corner on your team is just stupid.  And beofre all the haters pile on and point out Hall, Walker etc.  I understand those signings, I don't think we had to pay as much but they were needed signings.

One thing that really frustrates me is when Hollywood releases a movie like Swing Vote.  Ok I know it is fantasy, but come on it is impossible.  And to be honest I think Hollywood is trying push an agenda with this movie.  They want America to forget the Electoral College.  And that is the reason this movie is stupid.  No single person can dec ide an election, unless they are a memeber of the electoral college.  And even then this wouldn't happen.  So Hollywood releases a movie that ignores we are a Republic and not a Democracy.

And here is another frustrating thing.. Living in California we have some of the highest gas prices in the Nation.  Part of the reason is we have not built a new oil refinery in years.  Everyone wants them, but just like a prison not in their neighborhood.  The latest example is Chevron applying to expand thier richmond refinery.  And what happens... people in Richmond are protesting against it.  They say it will poision the environment.  They ignore the fact that it wil ladd 1200 much needed jobs to the richmond community. It will increase our gas processing ability which will increase the supply and drop the cost, and they ignore that a more modern facility will have more modern processing methods and might acutally be more environmentally friendly.

Oh and Barnon Davis.. let me get this off my chest.. you scr3w3d the Warriors and us fans.  You knew you were leaving and you knew they could have used that 10 million dollar exemption to make a trade and/or they could have drafted a point guard if you said you were opting out.  But you kept lying.......you said you were coming back.  If you truly appreciated all we had done for you and the Warriors had done for you, you would have told them you were opting out.

And another thing on the Boom Dizzle deal... why isn't that tampering by the Clippers.  I am sorry but if an agent talks to a club about their possible desire to sign a client of his that is under contract but could opt out.. How is that not tampering?  I am sure his name was never mentioned.  But Mafia Dons have been convicted of murder with out ever saying to kill the person.  If it looks like tampering , smells like tampering then it is tampering.  the Clippers should have gotten what teh Wolves got a few years ago.  Lostteh player back to free Agency and two thier next number ones sent to the Warriors.  I am sure people will say I am bitter... that this is just sour grapes, but I really want to know how this could not have been considered tampering.  Heck we banned the Black Soxs and they were found innocent.

Okay fire away.....
